Today the BEXIMCO Group ("BEXIMCO" or the "Group") is the largest private sector group in Bangladesh. BEXIMCO was founded in the 1970's by two brothers - Ahmed Sohail Fasihur Rahman and Salman Fazlur Rahman. Since the early days, the Group has evolved from being primarily a commodities trading company to a leading, diversified group with a presence in industry sectors that account for nearly 75% of Bangladesh's GDP. Beximco Communications Limited has brought the first “Direct-to-Home” (DTH) service to provide world-class television viewing experience to the people of Bangladesh. DTH is a digital technology which offers its viewers the opportunity to receive television signals directly from satellite with HD quality picture and sound.

In recent times BEXIMCO has launched its newest Vertical, the BEXIMCO PPE Division which is responsible for producing the highest grade of internationally certified PPE products for medical use.

Over the years, BEXIMCO has developed in-house design capabilities with teams based in Bangladesh and Spain. Furthermore it has partnered with some of the world's renowned design institutes, including Fashion Institute of Technology, Parsons, London School of Fashions, NIFT and NID, for access to talented designers. Beximco Synthetics Limited, a member of BEXIMCO Group, has been a manufacturer of Polyester Filament Yarns, namely, Partially Oriented Yarn (POY) and Draw Texturized Filament Yarn (DTFY) since July 1, 1994 and has an annual production capacity of 28 million linear meters.


The Group is the world's premier jute manufacturer and exporter. The Group supplies yarn to the world's premier carpet and rug manufacturers in Europe and the United States. Besides carpet yarn and twine, the Group also produces yarn and twine for producing Tatami mat and other floor coverings for gardening and household purposes. The Group specializes in producing high-valued yarn with special treatments (dyed, sized, polished, rot-proofed and waxed).

It also has contract manufacturing agreements with global pharmaceutical firms. Selected customers include Asthma Drug Facility, GlaxoSmithKline, Raffles Hospital, UNICEF and UNESCO.

Beximco Petroleum Limited is committed to ensure energy security to the nation by processing fuels locally. Established in 2009, this company is exploring opportunities to play a crucial role in liquid fuel supply scenario in Bangladesh. With several mega projects on the card, the company has already acquired land at Gajaria, Munshiganj. All the processing plants planned will employ state-of-the art technology and most modern equipment. It will bring in a new dawn to the horizon of Petroleum business in Bangladesh.


Beximco Power Company Limited (BPCL) is playing very central role in the area of energy sustainability and implementation of clean energy initiatives in Bangladesh.

BEXIMCO developed the largest Solar Power Plant of Bangladesh. Implemented through its subsidiary, Teesta Solar Ltd, the 200 MW (AC) solar power plant has been commissioned in January 2023. This plant is located in a 650 acre area in Sundarganj, Gaibandha. The Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) has been signed with the Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) for 20 years. The plant is connected to the national grid at Rangpur substation through a 35.35km long transmission line built by BEXIMCO. This plant is designed to produce enough electricity to light more than 200,000 homes.

BPCL’s second solar plant of 30 MW (AC) capacity is under development through its subsidiary Korotoa Solar Limited at Tetulia upazila in Panchagarh. The plant is targeted to be completed by 2023.

BPCL is continuously striving to put its mark in the renewable energy sector in Bangladesh with multiple large scale projects in the pipeline.

It went for public issue of shares and debentures in 1993 and commenced commercial operation in July 1994.
